The Stage has been a work in progress for about three years now, and a lot of the tunes recorded have been brought to life with the help of my band. We have been playing together as the John Kelly Band for almost two years now... Wow! They're an amazing bunch of guys (and gal)... Time Poole (guitar, harmonica, vocals), Geni Poole (bass) and Jeff Martin (drums). I've said it before and can easily again, I'm playing with my friends.

I hope you enjoy these songs that span about three years of my life. They're about family, friends and trying to find my way. I dedicate this CD to my best friend, my wife Nicole.

John Kelly is a singer songwriter from Teaneck, New Jersey (by way of Nashville) living in St. Petersburg, FL. John started out on Bleaker Street in NYC playing when he was 18 years old and has since then found himself in Nashville studios playing with the likes of Al Perkins, Tim O'brien, Rob Hajacos, Dustin Overbeek and Casey Driessen. Influenced at a young age by such artists as Mark Knopfler, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker and Eric Clapton and further educated in life by such musically captivating entertainers as Vince Gill and Alison Krauss and Union Station, John has a wide range of musical styles - from what he calls "Chicken Pickin'" on audience favorites like Lucky Day, I got a feelin', and Country Livin' to "Life Moment Pieces" like Still, Jackson, Take Your Time and The Stage.

Luckily John doesn't have to stray far from his love of music in his everyday work. John owns and operates HIDEAWAY RECORDING STUDIO, INC., where he puts his talent to use helping other musicians realize their sound. John has played with some of the greatest musicians out there, which brings us to John's current lineup...

Rocking it out with the JKB on harmonica, guitar and backup vocals is Mississippi native Tim Poole. Tim settled in St Pete where he met his future wife, Geni Poole, who now graces the band with her beauty and style on the bass guitar. Backing it all up on the drums is Jeff Martin. John's music has a truly unique sound which has been dubbed "an alt country crossover, rootsy sound full of strong melodies and honest lyrics". With the help of his band, John has been able to reach a wide audience, young and old, that appreciates him for his ability to create songs that inspire and move.

John's next album, THE STAGE is due out Fall 2008 and will feature several songs with his current lineup.

Thanks for stoppin' by. And thanks to those of you that have purchased a copy of WAITING already.

I've been writing songs for a long time and am so grateful that there are outlets to sell my music like CD Baby.

I've been at it for a while, writing, recording and playing out. I feel my stuff continues to get better as I grow and mature. This CD is such a milestone for me as a musician and producer/engineer. It covers quite an array of styles - everything I loved as a kid - Eagles, Eric Clapton, John Denver, Marshall Tucker, Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits... the list really goes on. I got to play around with this one because my studio upgraded quite a bit at the time and I tried many different approaches. I think I ended up with a really good representation of the kinds of music I used to listen to.

I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it.
